Not long to go until the start. From 11 to 15 June 2024, the roads of Italy will be tinged red and white with the typical flags of the 1000 Miglia. The cars will pass along the approximately 1800 kilometres of the route from Brescia back to the Lombardy city via Genoa, Lucca, Rome and Bologna, among others.

Also at the start was a crew from Il Sole 24 Ore in Mercedes cars.

The route of the 2024 edition

.

A new and much-criticised route is about to be staged for the 2024 edition of the event, which will start from Brescia on Tuesday 11 June and pass through Bergamo, Novara and Vercelli before arriving in Turin for the first stage finish.

On the second day, the convoy will begin its descent southwards, passing through the Langhe region and passing through the centre of Acqui Terme, before heading for Genoa, the first stop of the 2024 1000 Miglia, where the crews will stop for lunch. Continuing along the Tyrrhenian coast, the race will arrive in Viareggio.

The third stage will see the descent towards the capital: the race will turn inland through Lucca until the lunch break in Castiglione della Pescaia. In the afternoon, the route enters Lazio, passing through Marta, Viterbo and Ronciglione and ending in Via Veneto in Rome.

With the fourth stage, the crews will drive up to Orvieto and then Solomeo, the venue for lunch. After the break, it will be the turn of Siena and Prato and the Futa and Raticosa Passes, which will precede the arrival in San Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna). On the final day of Saturday 15th June the route will touch Ferrara, Bovolone and VillaFranca, then Lake Garda with Valtenesi and Salò to finish with the classic catwalk in Viale Venezia.

The 1000 miles: the world's most important regularity race

Founded in 1927 as a speed race from the intuition of Giovanni Canestrini, Franco Mazzotti, Renzo Castagneto and Aymo Maggi, the 1000 Miglia is today the regularity race for historic cars that traverses the unique scenery of the most beautiful Italy.
A journey through the warmth of the public and the enthusiasm of the participants, in the wake of the bold and innovative spirit of its origins. A week-long experience for unique pieces of art and design in motion, along the classic route from Brescia to Rome and back.

Only cars of which at least one has taken part in one of the editions of the 1000 Miglia from 1927 to 1957 and is entered in the 1000 Miglia Register may participate in the event.

The participation of Il Sole 24 Ore

.

Renewed interest and participation of Il Sole 24 Ore for this prestigious event that brings together car enthusiasts and Italy in general from all over the world.

On a daily basis, we will be keeping a logbook recounting the landscapes we pass through, the warmth of the public (which we are sure will be many and of all ages) and the performance of the cars we will be driving along the route: the AMG A45 S and the AMG-GT.

We look forward to seeing you at the start and at all stages of the 2024 edition of the 1000 Miglia.
