11-year-old shoots and kills father, who had confiscated his Nintendo Switch
An 11-year-old boy shot and killed his father after he confiscated his Nintendo Switch. The incident occurred - American media reported - on 13 January in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Police arrived on the scene at night responding to an emergency call and found Douglas Dietz, 42, dead in bed. His wife was asleep when she heard a loud noise that woke her up. She tried to shake Dietz, getting no response. Hearing a sound similar to drops of water, she switched on the light and realised it was blood. At that point the child, C.D., told his mother, "Daddy dead. I killed daddy." The woman also smelled something similar to fireworks.
According to police reconstructions, C.D. found the keys to access the secured gun while looking for the Nintendo Switch that had been confiscated from him. The 11-year-old boy then took the gun, loaded it and fired. He is now in police custody and has been denied bail.
