With the arrival of the summer months and the approach of the holidays, attention to the so-called 'fourteenth month' also increases. Both employees and pensioners are affected. In the case of employees, there is no exact day to pay this additional monthly payment, which is paid between June and July in the pay envelope. The fourteenth month is due, but not to everyone, only to certain categories, depending on the employment contract: Ccnl tertiary, trade and tourism; food; chemicals; cleaning and multiservices; transport and logistics.
When paid to pensioners
.Then there is a second channel, that of pensioners. In this case, the fourteenth month is an additional sum to the pension paid by Inps in July or December of each year, introduced by Law 127/07 and modified by Law 232/2016, which extended the number of beneficiaries and modified the amounts to be paid. Payment is made ex officio for pensioners of all managements on the basis of previous years' incomes. For those who fulfil the prescribed requirements by 31 July of the reference year, the benefit is paid on the July pension instalment. On the other hand, for those who meet the prescribed requirements from 1 August 2025 (pensions managed in the integrated systems) or from 1 July 2025 (pensions managed in the Public Administration systems) to 31 December 2025, and for those who become pensioners during 2025, who meet the statutory age and income limits, the fourteenth month's salary is, as usual, automatically paid in the December 2025 instalment. The fourteenth month's allowance is granted provisionally if the conditions prescribed by law are met and is subsequently verified on the basis of final incomes as soon as they become available.
To whom it may concern
.In particular, the fourteenth month is due to pensioners: holders of one or more pensions paid by the General Compulsory Insurance and its substitutive, exclusive and exempt forms, managed by public compulsory social security bodies; at least 64 years old; with a total income up to two times the minimum annual income of the Employees' Fund (from 2017).
How much does it amount to
?The benefit ranges from EUR 336 for those with up to 15 years of contributions (for employees) and up to 18 years of contributions (for self-employed workers) and a pension of 1.5 to 2 times the minimum allowance (for 2025: EUR 15,688.40); to EUR 655 for those with at least 25 years of contributions and an income of less than 1.5 times the minimum allowance (EUR 11,823.90).
