€1,500 vouchers for private schools: applications must be submitted by 21 September

Now that the school year has ended, the €1,500 voucher for private schools is available. The call for applications, which sets in motion the procedure for the payment of the bonus, and the joint MEF-MIM interministerial decree setting out the rules for its implementation, have been published on the Ministry of Education and Merit’s website. Firstly, the grant must be applied for online via the Unica platform, and the payment will then be made directly into the bank account specified at the time of application. The deadline for applications is 21 September.

The amount available to individual households with a child in lower secondary school or in the first two years of upper secondary school will depend on a number of factors. First and foremost, this will depend on the number of applications received and validated, which will be weighed against the resources allocated under Article 1, paragraph 519, of the latest Budget Act: 20 million, which becomes 19.6 million after deducting the 400,000 euros required for the fund’s administration.

We then move on to the value of the Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator. As reported in *Il Sole 24 Ore* on 9 July, with an ISEE of up to 10,000 euros, the allowance ranges from 600 to 1,500 euros; after which it falls to between 400 and 1,300 euros if the ISEE is between 10,000 and 20,000 euros, or to between 200 and 1,000 euros if the ISEE is between 20,000 and 30,000 euros.

Another factor to take into account is whether the household has already received a regional grant for the same purpose. In that case, the value of the voucher and the aid already received must not exceed the so-called ‘Average Cost per Pupil (ACP)’, which for this year stands at €7,161.37 for lower secondary school and €7,852.29 for upper secondary school.

To submit the application, there are two further requirements, in addition to an ISEE of less than 30,000 euros. Firstly, the pupil for whom the bonus is being claimed must have attended a state-recognised private school during the 2025/2026 academic year for one of the three years of lower secondary school or for the first two years of upper secondary school; on the other hand, they must be duly registered in the Sidi system – the National Student Register.
