"The school employee but also some colleagues mistook me for a student. But then I introduced myself as the new teacher and they finally offered me coffee'. Emanuele Lettieri, 20 years old next 18 April, took up his duties last Wednesday at the 'Marco Polo' higher education institute in Cecina, in the province of Livorno, specialising in graphics and communication. Lettieri, a resident of Noto (Syracuse), is an Itp, a practical technical teacher. A teacher who works in the laboratories of technical and professional institutes to teach practical subjects. A qualification that until now could only be accessed with a diploma.
From 2027 a Bachelor's degree will be required
From 2027, a three-year degree will be required. 'I graduated from the Rizza institute in Syracuse with a diploma in graphics and communication,' explains Lettieri. 'I acquired a number of certifications (such as C2 level in English) and then the teaching qualification'. This is a path already taken by her sister, who is 26 and teaches chemistry in Verona. 'A qualification that is needed to enter the rankings. I passed the qualification course after the practical and oral exams. Then I was placed on the ranking list in the first band, because teaching is divided into two bands. I sent the mad, which would be the making available, all over Italy and according to need the schools call," says the young teacher.
Term assignment
'In Tuscany I am replacing a colleague on maternity leave. The contract expires on 30 March, but I believe it will be renewed until the end of the year,' Lettieri explains. 'At the beginning there was some misunderstanding, but now my role is clear to everyone. With the students there is the utmost respect. Some students are older than me in age, but I use a very simple method of involvement in teaching'.
