2026 General Assembly on Culture in Turin: Cultural Geographies and the Future of the European Capital of Culture
The event brings together institutions, artists and businesses to discuss new cultural landscapes, urban regeneration and innovation in the arts and music sector
Culture is reshaping the geography of Italia, bringing to the fore new places, communities and experiences capable of transforming local areas.
The 2026 edition of the Stati Generali della Cultura, organised by the Il Sole 24 ORE Group and the City of Turin, in collaboration with the Fondazione per la Cultura Torino and as part of Turin’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2033, scheduled for Wednesday 4 November, from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm, at the Auditorium of the Intesa Sanpaolo Skyscraper.
The event, entitled “Cultural Geographies”, will bring together institutions, artists, practitioners and business representatives.
Alongside the major centres and cities of art, new hubs of cultural production are emerging: creative districts, communities and regions that are experimenting with innovative models of participation and the promotion of cultural heritage. This transformation is taking place across the whole country and is making culture a driving force for economic growth, social cohesion and the attractiveness of local areas.
The Turin programme will translate this scenario into a dialogue between different experiences and sectors: from cities as laboratories for cultural policy to the regeneration of local areas, right through to networks between institutions, businesses and communities. Among the topics to be addressed are Turin’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2033, the accessibility of art, the capacity of culture to create a cohesive system, and the future of Italian music. The morning session, moderated by Stefano Biolchini, a journalist with *Il Sole 24 Ore*, will begin at 9.30 am with opening remarks from Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin, Federico Silvestri, Chief Executive of the Il Sole 24 Ore Group, and Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo.
