The son of the president of the Tempio Pausania court, Marco Contu, who today, Wednesday 3 September, should have presided over the last hearing of the trial of Grillo jr and three others on charges of sexual violence, died yesterday in Rome when he was run over by the metro. The boy, 22 years old, died after ending up on the rails of the B line. Among the hypotheses of the police investigating the death is that of a voluntary act. Investigations are also underway into the accident through security cameras. The death occurred yesterday afternoon at the metro B station San Paolo. Investigators do not rule out a voluntary gesture: the video surveillance frames show the young man ending up on the tracks, but there seems to be no responsibility on the part of other people. Due to this serious mourning of the president of the court, after a brief discussion between the members of the panel, the prosecutor and the lawyers, the hearing was postponed to 22 September at 10.30am.

Good morning: "Death Contu son shocking news"

"This is shocking news and the hearing has been postponed. The parties that were supposed to conclude today, will do so on 22 September. We appreciated the president's sense of duty but for this very reason we said 'no thanks'. Thus lawyer Giulia Bongiorno after the news of the death of the president's son in the trial of Ciro Grillo and his three friends that led to the postponement of the sentence to 22 September.

Polemic over court president for hypothesis of postponement until tomorrow

"The president says it must be done tomorrow, but tomorrow there is also the funeral of this poor boy". The sentence, pronounced in the courtroom of the Tempio Pausania tribunal by temporary judge Marcella Pinna, acting president, sparked controversy inside and outside the courtroom. In the crosshairs was the President of the Court, Caterina Interlandi, who allegedly assumed that the trial would continue with the verdict as early as tomorrow, despite the bereavement that suddenly struck Contu. "I was not present at the hearing, I am not part of the panel. I have nothing more to say. Do not look for unnecessary polemics," said Interlandi contacted by journalists, inviting them to ask for clarification directly from the colleague who had made that statement. The last hearing of the trial was then postponed to 22 September.
