A new photovoltaic plant in Alessandria and a 19% reduction in CO2 emissions, 170 employees benefiting from welfare initiatives and more than 1,000 hours of training courses: these are some of the results of the 2023 Sustainability Report of Paglieri, a Piedmont-based manufacturer of body, laundry and home care products.

The document reflects the commitment to pursuing environmental, social and economic sustainability goals, in line with the company's Future Vision strategy - launched in May 2022 - to guide the company's growth along industrial and organisational culture lines with a business plan that envisages around EUR 27 million in investments for the three-year period 2024 - 2026.

"The Sustainability Report demonstrates Paglieri's commitment to addressing not only the future challenges within the company, but also the challenges inherent to the context in which we operate, in order to provide consumers with products of ever-increasing quality and stakeholders with a complete vision of the company," says Fabio Rossello, Paglieri's CEO. Having a positive impact on the territory and on people is only possible thanks to a good industrial and human capital investment policy, the reduction of direct emissions of climate-altering gases, and the search for a value chain that is increasingly suited to the environmental, economic and social challenges of the future'.

Debora Paglieri, CEO of Paglieri, adds: "The year 2023 saw us addressing issues related to energy consumption, workplace management and the company's Made in Italy proposal. In line with our vision, our future goals include a more conscious use of materials and resources, with a renewed focus on stakeholders and consumers in the continuity of the tradition that has guided us for over 200 years'.

For seven generations now, family values and tradition have been transversal elements underlying the implementation and evolution of Paglieri's business model. Each generation that has led the company has left the next one a healthy reality with solid foundations to continue to grow and endure. The company bases its business model on the synergic co-existence of innovation and Italian tradition, enhancing the value of its brands as symbols of the quality of made in Italy in the country and abroad.

In fact, Paglieri has its operational headquarters in Alessandria, while 70% of production takes place in the Spinetta Marengo (AL) plant, which covers a total area of 76,000 m². Inside the plant there are six production lines for cosmetics, two lines for talcum powder and one line for softeners. In 2023, Paglieri achieved a net turnover of 203.1 million euro, serving over 50 countries worldwide with its 7 brands: Felce Azzurra, Felce Azzurra Bio, Cléo, Labrosan, SapoNello, Mon Amour and Aria di Casa. The company also produced 112 million pieces thanks to 9 production lines, and Paglieri, together with its Felce Azzurra and Schiapparelli brands, were recognised in 2023 by the Italian Patent and Trademark Office as historical trademarks of national interest.

The wellbeing and professional growth of the 170 people who work in Paglieri's offices and production site are a priority for the company, which is committed to offering a comprehensive benefits programme through welfare initiatives, including the extension of services to support work-life balance and the introduction of programmes to provide psychological, legal and tax support for employees. The company has also invested significantly in the growth of the professional skills of its talents, with a focus on issues related to sustainability and technological innovation through the implementation of new training and professional development programmes, with over 1,000 hours of training provided in 2023. Despite its international dimension, Paglieri is first and foremost a company rooted in Alessandria, with the objective of creating value and work for the territory. Last year, on the occasion of Felce Azzurra's centenary, the company strengthened its ties with the Piedmontese city through initiatives such as the 'suspended exhibition' - featuring the works of Stefano Riboli - and the Christmas tree put up in Piazza della Libertà. In addition, the company supported 'La forza e il sorriso Onlus' - an association that supports women facing cancer - and participated in university meetings to promote the development of young talents and their inclusion in an inclusive environment.

The environmental analysis conducted by Paglieri has identified priority areas and actions to improve the company's sustainability performance. This process has led to the definition of strategic investments for the future, aimed at optimising energy consumption and introducing innovative solutions in production, in harmony with the Future Vision. To this end, a new photovoltaic system was installed at the Alexandria plant in 2023, with a capacity of 650 kWp, capable of generating enough renewable energy to cover 4% of the company's energy needs. This project has made it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 19% compared to 2022.The scent of quality and innovationIn 2023, demonstrating its commitment to the synergetic pursuit of innovation and tradition in research and development, the company launched new product lines that combine high quality raw materials with eco-sustainable formulas, while maintaining its focus on consumer safety and health.

Paglieri hosts an in-house Perfumery Laboratory, and it was in this Laboratory that the Felce Azzura - Fiori di Luna (Blue Fern - Moon Flower) line was patented, developed in collaboration with the specialists of the Accademia Italiana di Medicina del Sonno (Italian Academy of Sleep Medicine) to raise awareness of the importance of sleep and the impact that rest has on health and well-being. The Fiori di Luna fragrance, created following 7 years of research, over 400 sleep quality tests and 3000 hours of sleep analysed, makes use of the patented DreamScentz™ olfactory technology that uses ingredients capable of acting on the areas of the brain that control sleep, is designed to promote relaxation and help you sleep better.
