4-year-old girl died in 2024, uncles arrested for aggravated murder
The two are allegedly responsible for the state of neglect and mistreatment that led to the death of the little girl
More than a year after the murder of little Alessandra, the four-year-old girl who died in Tufino (Naples) on the night of 13-14 December 2024, the two uncles were arrested on charges of aggravated murder.
The case
The child, after the suspension of parental authority for her birth parents, had been ent temporarily to her aunt and uncle. The two were immediately investigated for maltreatment and negligent manslaughter, after burn marks were found on the child's body. The uncles had initially explained the child's death as a fall down the stairs, but the investigation revealed a picture of neglect and violence.
Investigations
The Nola carabinieri, with the involvement of the Ris di Roma, uncovered a substantial state of abandonment of the little girl, as well as violent behaviour on the part of her guardians. The investigation revealed that Alessandra was in a serious condition of de-nutrition, causing a profound physical decline. According to the public prosecutor's office of Nola, which is in charge of the investigation, the treatment of the child would have led her 'to a cachectic state, which led to her death, favouring - together with other concurrent traumas endured by the child, including serious burns, bed sores and a fracture - the onset of a serious pulmonary disease'. The child's aunt and uncle, who were taken to prison by the carabinieri after the gip issued the precautionary measure at the request of the public prosecutor's office, are now accused of all this.
