The 67th edition of the famous Festival dei Due Mondi is underway, which has secured for the second year the presence of a conductor such as Iván Fischer and his orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra; and, equally, of a formation such as the Orchestra di S. Cecilia, engaged in the opera and the final concert, which presents (finally!) music that Spoleto has rarely been able to hear. Innovation in the Ossola Valley, with the Sphera project; and great young singer-songwriters in Canavese, and young artists from Italy to the Congo.

From 28 June to 14 July the 67th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, with more than sixty performances including opera, music, dance and theatre, performances and art installations. The opera 'Ariadne at Naxos' by R. Strauss opens, with a line-up such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra and its founder and conductor Ivá Fischer; it will be an 'Ariadne' without the prologue, in place of which a choreographed version of 'Bourgeois gentilhomme', also by Strauss, will be presented. We will also remember Gluck's 'Orpheus and Eurydice', with another excellent formation, the Orchestra di S. Cecilia, conductor Manacorda and direction by Michieletto. It concludes on the 14th with the traditional Concert in Piazza Duomo again the Orchestra di S. Cecilia with the direction and voice of Barbara Hannigan and a special programme. Hannigan brings the 'Girl Crazy Suite' from Gershwin's famous musical to the Festival; she recorded it and won a Grammy Award. In the first part of the concert is the unfrequently performed 'Le festin de l'araignée', a suite from Albert Roussel's ballet about a parade of insects caught in a spider's web among the plants of a sunny garden.
