A further 200 million for universities; the regular funding allocation reaches 9.5 billion
The funds – provided for in the latest Budget Law – will be allocated to promoting energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources in university buildings, with a view to reducing energy consumption and easing the burden of energy bills on university budgets
Funding for Italian universities is set to increase by 200 million euros, in addition to the Ordinary Financing Fund (FFO), which totals approximately 9.5 billion. The funds – provided for in the latest budget following a proposal by the Minister for Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini – will be used to promote energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources in university buildings, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and easing the burden of energy bills on university budgets. This was announced in a press release. Furthermore, the structure of the Fund is being simplified, making available up to 270 million currently earmarked for specific purposes. This greater flexibility will enable universities to plan their activities with more autonomy, responding to the needs of individual contexts and investing in innovative solutions.
