Milan, the traditional economic heart of Italy, is taking on a new challenge related to the 2026 Winter Olympics: a global event that represents not only a celebration of sport, but also an extraordinary opportunity to rethink itself, through a sustainable and inclusive approach, as an attractive city for leisure and sports activities. As young entrepreneurs of Assimpredil Ance, we believe that today more than ever we need a positive vision of the role of our sector as a key player in the regeneration of the city. An emblematic example of this transformation is the former Caimi bathing centre in Milan, which has now become 'Bagni Misteriosi', where our event 'Beyond the Obstacle - Direction Milano Cortina 2026' is taking place. An urban regeneration project that has given new life to a degraded space, turning it into a high quality cultural and sports centre for the area and thus demonstrating that forgotten spaces have great potential to become reference points for citizens. The success of the Bagni Misteriosi illustrates how vision and collaboration between public and private entities, essential for the success of regeneration, can generate places that meet the needs of well-being, sport and culture, establishing a replicable model for the future of Italian cities. Sport and culture are a flywheel, a spark that generates successful urban and social regeneration. A disused place that is returned to society always generates virtuous mechanisms, starting with the environmental quality resulting from the reclamation and return of green areas. It is precisely from us young entrepreneurs that the awareness and responsibility of transmitting an important message to the new generations starts: sport is the means and instrument that gives value to the growth of a human being and to society. The architecture of these places becomes crucial for inclusion and must give concrete answers by embracing the peculiarities of each one, enhancing talents and diversity. Sports infrastructures must be conceived and designed with the social context in which they are inserted in mind, as they generate effects on a small and large scale, in the short and long term. Expo 2015 has triggered a great change for the city of Milan, favouring its attractiveness also to international capital, generating infrastructural improvements and greater social cohesion. The 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics are on the horizon and, in addition to reinventing new sports infrastructures and enhancing existing ones, the neighbouring territories are called upon to take courageous action, to give answers to citizens, to heal urban wounds that have been neglected for too long. This is a unique opportunity to enhance a wide swathe of territory: cities, metropolitan cities, towns, tourist resorts, small villages and regions. Stable and structured cooperation between the public and
private sectors remains essential to leave a lasting, quality legacy for territories and future generations. It is essential that we join forces to face contemporary challenges and ensure sustainable and inclusive development that leaves no one behind. As communities, we must commit ourselves to renewing our cities. The challenges are obvious, but the opportunities for a renewed and shining City are equally real. With a new spirit of collaboration and a commitment to inclusion and innovation, we can ensure that the future of our cities is bright and prosperous. We, the young entrepreneurs of Assimpredil
Ance who love our area, believe in the future and do not accept degrowth
want to accept the challenge and take on this responsibility. And you?
