A solar park will be created at the Bluenergy stadium

There is still time for expressions of interest from companies in the first project of a Renewable Energy Community (REC) in a stadium. It is happening in Udine, and will allow the club's supporters and the companies in the area surrounding the stadium that join in, to share and use the portion of energy produced by the Bluenergy Stadium's solar park and not used in the facility. It is called 'Energy on the Field', and it is one more piece of an advanced green vision. Last April saw the completion of the photovoltaic system - designed with the support of Milan Polytechnic - housed on the roof of the stadium owned by the Friulian club: an avant-garde construction that sees the installation of 2,409 latest-generation solar panels capable of producing an average of around 3,000 kWh/day.
The facility will absorb about 70 per cent of the energy generated, while the remaining 30 per cent will be made available to the energy community, which will thus be able to benefit from the incentives that the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (Gse) recognises for the energy produced by the plant and simultaneously consumed by Cer. With a social implication: the resources will be used to support the Asufc (Azienda sanitaria universitaria Friuli Centrale) and, in particular, the Child Neuropsychiatry facility. The facility, whose panels occupy a total of 4,615 square metres of surface area, adds further elements of innovation to a sports facility that already represents a reference in Europe for the stadiums of the future in terms of design, multifunctionality, safety and sustainability. In this sense, the Bluenergy Stadium is the leading sports facility for Italian football in the challenge of zero CO2 emissions and more.
Despite the increased costs, the club wanted the construction to take place on the site occupied by the previous facility, so as not to consume any more land, with the partial recovery of demolition material. In the same direction was the decision to create a facility that can be used every day of the week instead of just on match days: meeting centres, offices of companies and institutions and shops already exist inside, and, in the now near future, the opening of a museum, a wellness centre and areas dedicated to families.
