Three very different festivals in the middle of summer. The white lime of the Apulian Locorotondo welcomes the 21st Locus Festival, which stretches from the Murge to Salento; each stage is designed to enhance the genius loci, transforming each concert into a collective ritual capable of uniting aesthetics and vision. At the opposite extreme, in the mountains of Friuli, in Tarvisio, there is a festival that can only be reached on foot or by bicycle - and where there is no reception. Mountains again, but Swiss, and great chamber music with stars.

Verbier (Switzerland)

.

Until 3 August, the famous Chamber Music Festival (with symphonic episodes) in the mountains of Canton Valais. Among the many concerts, on the 28th the exceptional duo of Martha Argerich (piano) and Mischa Maisky (cello); on the 29th the two of them again, this time together with Kissin (piano) and the Ebène Quartet, in various combinations - including Argerich and Kissin together in Sostakovic; Malofeev (piano) on the 31st, and a fine programme including Schubert, Kabalevski, Janacek, Liszt, Skrjabin; and the jazz of Brad Mehldau in a trio on the 1st August.

No Borders Music Festival

Tarvisio

.

Until 3 August, the 30th edition of the No Borders Music Festival will take place in the fascinating location of the Fusine and Sella Nevea Lakes, which can only be reached by bicycle or on foot. The Festival also offers free guided activities, such as historical walks, nature excursions and forest bathing. On the 2nd at Rifugio Gilberti there will be two concerts: the first, at 12 noon, with I Patagarri, a Milanese band with its joyful and enthralling gipsy jazz; the second, at 2 p.m., with Goran Bregović and his Wedding and Funeral Band, in a mix of Bulgarian vocals, Slavic folklore, Orthodox sacred polyphony and rock.

Locorotondo.

Locorotondo (BA)

.

Until 14 August, the 21st edition of the Locus Festival. Among the artists, Morrissey, the voice that marked an era with The Smiths and beyond; the funk of Nile Rodgers & Chic, and then Benjamin Clementine, the post-rock intensity of Mogwai, the instrumental refinement of The Fearless Flyers, the genial irreverence of Marc Rebillet, the energy of Mezerg and the electro-oriental blend of Acid Arab. Alongside them, Italian music, from CCCP Fedeli alla Linea to the refined pop of Brunori Sas, passing through the emotional sensitivity of Diodato and the cinematic lyricism of Baustelle. Afterhours celebrate the 20th anniversary of 'Ballate per piccole iene', while Calibro 35 present their new album Exploration. And then the younger voices: Nayt and Psicologi give voice to Generation Z; Mace with his hypnotic and transversal vision; Lucio Corsi, after his second place at Sanremo.

The squares and masserie of Locorotondo remain the beating heart, but these are flanked by the urban arenas of Bari's Fiera del Levante and Ostuni's Foro Boario, the marvellous Bocca di Lupo estate immersed in the vineyards of Minervino Murge, and from this year also the sandy beaches of Torre Canne. Each stage is designed to enhance the genius loci, transforming each concert into a collective ritual capable of uniting aesthetics and vision.
