Fig: China blocks the sale of its robotics division to SoftBank for $5.37 billion

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The Swiss industrial group ABB has announced that the authorities in Beijing are blocking the planned sale, for $5.375 billion, of its Robotics division in China to the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank.

The transaction was announced in October 2025 and is subject to approval by the relevant authorities and the usual conditions precedent. SoftBank is managing the process of obtaining these approvals.

ABB and SoftBank are in close contact and are working constructively on the deal.
