The Board of Directors of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) has elected Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of the Mercedes-Benz Group, as its new chairman, who will assume this function as of 1 January 2025. Källenius will take over the presidency in place of Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo, who has held the position for the past two years.
The Board of Directors also approved today the accession of Stellantis, which will become part of Acea on 1 January 2025.
Luca de Meo, outgoing Chairman and CEO of the Renault Group, said: 'Now is the time to play more collaboratively than ever before in Europe. The return of Stellantis to Acea is a signal that the industry is stronger when it acts with a common voice. European carmakers are facing an unprecedented competitiveness crisis while managing a very challenging transition to decarbonisation: at this critical time, the unity of our industry is crucial. I know that this is a conviction shared with Ola Källenius. He can count on my full support when he takes over as Acea's new chairman. For my part, I remain fully committed to moving the European industry forward."
