There is the long-awaited breakthrough at the ex-Flextronics table held at Mimit: the company specialised in research, development and production of electronic products - taken over by the FairCap fund on behalf of its subsidiary Adriatronics - has announced the sale agreement for the entire industrial area of Trieste to the newco Startech Industries.
Reindustrialisation
.This is the result of the reindustrialisation process urged since last February by the Ministry, the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region and the social partners, to the German fund owner.
In detail, explains a Mimit note, Startech Industries will produce third-generation optical transducers for data centres at the Trieste site, with an 80 million euro investment plan. From an employment point of view, the company envisages the total absorption of the current 333 workers, with the prospect, when fully operational, of an increase to 420 employees. "Today we are writing another page of industrial policy that will have a positive impact, as it did for Wartsila, on this territory. We are giving back a solid productive and employment perspective to the Adriatronics site in Trieste and its 333 workers, a company and skills heritage that we could not afford to lose," says the Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.
L’accordo
The agreement provides for the sale, in the form of a business transfer, by Fair Cap of the Adriatronics plant (formerly Flextronics) to Star Tech Industries srl, 50 per cent owned by Star Tech Ventures (Italian branch of Mountain X, a dual-purpose aerospace and defence venture capital fund) and 50 per cent by Segner Limited (strategic partner and owner of the intellectual property of Newphotonics, a company active in the design, development and production of photonic integrated circuit semiconductors for data centres in the artificial intelligence era).
