The first round of strikes 2026 kicks off after the holidays. Planes, buses, trams and trains: eleven days of protests

Once the Christmas holidays are over, the transport strikes begin. In January there will be eleven days of protests, some local, some national, affecting local public transport, rail infrastructure, air transport and taxis. The stoppages will range from 4 to 24 hours depending on the proclamation of the various unions.
8 January
It starts on 8 January with a strike of buses, trams, trains and metro at local, provincial and regional level proclaimed by various trade unions. In particular, they will affect the staff of the Tua company production units in the provinces of Pescara and Chieti, the staff of the Ferro division and the travelling staff of the Vesuvius lines of the Eav company of Naples (this for 24 hours), the staff of the Sasa company of Bolzano, the Tua company of Teramo and the Abruzzo region, the staff of the tpl companies of Abruzzo and the Tua company production unit of Lanciano (Chieti).
9 January
On the 9th it will be the turn of a strike in Sardinia for the whole day, also in local transport, while the staff of Swissport Italia at Milan Linate and Malpensa airports will stop for 24 hours. On the same day, easyjet and Vueling hostesses will cross their arms for 24 hours (8 hours). On the 10th, Rfi employees working in infrastructure maintenance facilities will stop for 8 hours nationwide.
12 January
On the 12th there is a 23-hour strike in the Trenord company, on the 13th taxis will stop for 24 hours for a protest proclaimed by about 20 trade unions. Busitalia Sita nord company staff will stop for 24 hours in Umbria. Goods transport stopped on the 14th for a day involving the staff of the Dinazzano Po company and Captrain Italia. On the 15th, the personnel of the Atm group companies in Milan will protest for 24 hours. The tpl will again come to a halt on the 16th in Molise (5 hours of the extra-urban service companies), in Rome the Scoppio bus companies (4 hours) and Autoservizi Russo; 24 hours of stop for the buses of the Segesta company in Palermo, Etna trasporti in Catania, Interbus in Enna.
12 and 13 January
On 12 and 13 January, there will be a strike of teaching and ATA staff, fixed-term and permanent in the education and research sector.
