The American Chamber of Commerce in Italy (AmCham Italy) and the University of Naples Federico II are teaming up in the name of innovation. With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the oldest university in Southern Italy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy launch a new collaboration to better connect the academic and business worlds, creating an ecosystem capable of generating new skills and internationalisation opportunities.
The Federico II has long been a protagonist of collaborations with global realities such as Apple, Cisco and Deloitte, and with projects of international importance such as Cineca, the supercomputer destined to become a European reference point. AmCham Italy, through its network and thematic committees, represents a privileged interlocutor for Italian and American companies interested in strengthening the transatlantic dialogue.
The collaboration will be developed mainly in four priority areas: advanced training in innovative sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, aerospace, pharma; emerging technologies and integration with the Cineca project; international mobility programmes for students and researchers with a focus on the US market; and joint workshops and events to bring companies and universities closer together on the major issues of global competitiveness.
"With this agreement we strengthen the bridge between Italy and the United States, investing in young people, innovation, and technology transfer. The collaboration with an excellence such as the University of Naples Federico II confirms AmCham's role as a privileged platform to bring the academic world closer to the business world," said Simone Crolla, Managing Director of AmCham Italy.
And Matteo Lorito, Rector of the University of Naples Federico II, added: "The agreement with the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy is of great value because it establishes the basis for academic interaction between the member companies and the University as an important generator of innovation and technology transfer, with particular attention to the professional growth of students and young graduates and the internationalisation of our training courses in collaboration with the world of production. Of particular relevance could be the positive effect on companies operating in the US market, in light of the particular historical moment. Workshops, internships, and interactions with the Federal Academies are planned, especially on topics related to the use of AI, cybersecurity, pharma, and various emerging technologies. As part of the protocol, specific projects will also be implemented with exchanges of researchers and students with US companies and studies on the overseas market'.
