Agricultural land to young people under 41: the call for incentives is launched. Here's how to do it

In detail, a distinction must be made between investments of less than 300,000 euro, for which the loan is a mortgage with a mortgage on the land itself, and those that will require a disbursement above the 300,000 euro threshold, for which, on the other hand, a retention of title agreement is triggered and the young person becomes the owner of the land only after paying the last instalment.

Added to the picture is the 100,000 euro pfirst-time start-up prize for startuppers.

Sixty per cent of this premium goes to reduce the mortgage instalments for the purchase of the land and the remaining 40 per cent is paid upon implementation of the business plan or in any case within the first five years of the investment.

The 120 million endowment available to Generazione Terra is raised through another measure also managed by Ismea, namely the Land Bank.

The Land Bank is not only aimed at young people but at all agricultural entrepreneurs and is a tool with which Ismea puts unused land back on the market.

The list of optionable lands is published on Ismea's website and entrepreneurs can win them either by auction (in the case of temporary tenders) or with single bids and relaunches in the case of permanent tenders. With the resources collected, Generation Earth is financed.

'On Earth Day,' commented the president of Ismea, Livio Proietti, 'it is even more important to remember that there is no agriculture without access to its agricultural land: that is why young people must be increasingly protagonists.

They are bearers of innovation vision and creativity. They must be supported with concrete tools such as Generazione Terra, the land instrument managed by Ismea with the guidelines of Masaf, as well as data and training to strengthen an increasingly dynamic and competitive sector such as agriculture'.

"The 'Generation Land' measure," added Ismea's Director General Sergio Marchi, "represents a concrete tool, in implementation of the guidelines of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, to promote access to land for the new generations. Supporting young farmers means reinforcing generational turnover, increasing the competitiveness of businesses, and safeguarding the territory with sustainable production models.

It is on this balance between innovation, sustainability and economic soundness that the future of Italian agriculture is at stake'.

From 2011 to date, Generation Earth has counted 765 operations totalling 27 thousand hectares and an expenditure of 483 million euros.
