Air transport: ENAV reports an increase in guaranteed flights; working with TIM on the data network
Over 50 per cent restored. The aim is to restore full service as soon as possible
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Enav “is working to restore full functionality to the data transmission network”, whilst the number of flight routes guaranteed via the secondary satellite network has “increased compared to an hour ago” and has therefore “exceeded 50 per cent”. This is the latest update from Enav following the disruptions to the geographical data transmission network supporting air traffic control services.
"All of ENAV’s equipment is operating normally and has not shown any faults," the statement notes.
The use of the satellite-based backup system, whilst ensuring the continuity of air traffic control services and the highest safety standards – explains Enav – does not, however, allow for the management of 100 per cent of air traffic, making a temporary reduction in operational capacity necessary. “In-depth and ongoing work is being carried out with Enav’s external suppliers, starting with TIM, which is responsible for the management and maintenance of the data network, to identify and resolve the faults that have led to the current situation. The aim is to restore full operational capacity as soon as possible,” the statement concludes.
