Aiscat: Larini, “We’re not just about tolls; we need to restore an accurate picture of our role”
Changing perceptions: we are the custodians of essential infrastructure
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - , 15 July - “We must also strive to change the perception of motorway concessionaires. We are not merely about tolls – which, incidentally, are closely linked to the investments made by the concessionaires and are the result of an authorisation process involving the Ministry and the Authority. We are the custodians of an infrastructure asset that is essential to the country’s economy. Ensuring that the public understands this value is a responsibility we must all shoulder, because only in this way will the fundamental role that concessionaires play every day for Italia’s growth, safety and competitiveness be recognised.” This is the appeal made by the new president of Aiscat, Fabrizio Larini, to the audience at the association’s public meeting, ‘One sector, one vision: the values of a fresh start for the sector’s future’.
"Despite our ongoing commitment and the results we have achieved, we are aware that the value of the work carried out by the sector does not always come across fully in the public debate. That is why we must be the first to communicate more effectively what we achieve every day: investment in safety, infrastructure maintenance, technological innovation, user support and the tangible contribution that the motorway network makes to the country’s economic and social development,” he begins. And in this endeavour, “we believe it is essential to build an increasingly open, transparent and collaborative relationship with the media, which will help people understand the complexity and strategic value of our sector”. “Communicating this value means giving the public a more complete picture of our role,” he concludes.
