Key points
Alessandro Bastoni, a defender for Inter and the national team, is under investigation for child prostitution as part of the investigation coordinated by Public Prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro and Deputy Public Prosecutor Bruna Albertini – who are leading the investigation – in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza – into an events company based in Cinisello Balsamo, Ma.De., which, according to the investigation’s hypothesis, is alleged to have organised ‘all-inclusive’ evenings for VIP clients at trendy Milanese nightspots and also in Mykonos.
As reported by Repubblica.it on 30 June, and confirmed by judicial sources, Bastoni received a summons yesterday to appear next Friday, 3 July, when he will be questioned. Represented by lawyer Salvatore Scuto, the Inter and Italy international may also decide to exercise his right to remain silent.
According to the investigations carried out by the Gdf, he is alleged to have had a relationship with a girl who was 17 at the time.
In addition to the notice of investigation served on Bastoni, the Guardia di Finanza has served documents requesting preliminary information from three other players who are not under investigation but are being called solely as witnesses: Daniel Maldini, Riccardo Calafiori and Kevin Bonifazi.
The following individuals are under investigation in connection with the criminal organisation case: Alessio Salamone, Deborah Ronchi and Emanuele Buttini.
