Alfa Romeo Fastlane 2030, a multi-energy large suv is under consideration and the heir to the Giulietta will arrive
Clarification by Biscione after the misleading slide presented during the Fastlane plan
Alfa Romeo may have become a regional brand but it is still able to polarise the interest of the press and enthusiasts. The proof comes from what happened in the last 24 hours, after the presentation during the Fastlane industrial plan. Because the way it was described, with a slide that could only be interpreted in one way, the future of the Biscione would have seen the current range continue its course - with Giulia and Stelvio reaching 10 years of life - and two novelties represented by a C SUV and a model produced by the Bottega Fuoriserie division.
Slide that made, and made us, say goodbye to the long-awaited new Stelvio and Giulia, those announced in the past as electric only, surprised during testing and then cancelled a few months before the planned launch. Result? Alfa Romeo has issued an official communication, shedding more light on what to expect in the future. Clarity that would not only help those who have to recount the changes, but would also provide greater peace of mind for dealerships but above all for employees working on the production lines.
New Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Thanks to official communication, we discover that the new C-Suv shown in the slide will be built on the STLA Medium platform, with multi-energy engines, and produced in Italia. The second novelty - not shown yesterday in the slide (and one wonders why given the 'hunger' for new models) will be a C-segment hatchback heir to the Giulietta based on the new multi-energy STLA One platform, with both hybrid and electric engines. More clarity also on Bottega Fuoriserie, with a 'few-off' (i.e. a one-off) that will follow the success of the 33 Stradale.
Addio Alfa Romeo Stelvio? Not really
"Alfa Romeo is studying solutions to continue competing in the D-segment with new interpretations of the current range consisting of the Giulia and Stelvio, while remaining faithful to its performance-oriented DNA and adapting to the evolution of the market. The brand will leverage flexible platforms to progressively introduce multi-energy solutions, including hybrid and electric engines. More details will be announced at a later stage,' the Alfa Romeo statement reads. As well as publishing it in full to avoid misunderstandings, the good news comes from the fact that at Alfa they are working on a true (and worthy) heir to the Giulia and Stelvio, multi-energy and with performance to match the brand. It remains a mystery, however, why they did not add two covered models to the slide presented during the plan, indicating what they were, as in the case of the C-Suv and Bottega Fuoriserie.
