Alfredo Cospito, 41 bis renewed for the anarchist
The hard prison regime continues from 2022
For the anarchist Alfredo Cospito, currently imprisoned in Cagliari, the 41 bis, the hard prison regime, has been renewed. The decision, expected by 4 May, was taken by the Ministry of Justice and notified today to defence lawyer Flavio Rossi Albertini. The lawyer let it be known that in the coming days he will visit his client, who has been in 41 bis since 2022.
Cospito is serving a 23-year sentence for the bombing of the Carabinieri barracks in Fossano in 2006 and for terrorist acts related to the actions of the Informal Anarchist Federation (Fai-Fri). The defence will be able to challenge the measure before the surveillance court in Rome. In September 2025, the European Court of Human Rights had already rejected the appeal, because it was considered 'manifestly unfounded'.
Cospito is also the protagonist of the case that led to the first-degree conviction of former Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro for having reported to his party colleague (and Copasir vice-president) Giovanni Donzelli - who then made them public to the Chamber of Deputies - the content of conversations that took place during the air time in Sassari prison between Cospito and camorra and 'ndrangheta inmates, who were also under 41 bis. In Delmastro's second-degree trial, the public prosecutor asked for an acquittal: the verdict is expected in May.
