Allianz ready to leave Ania

After Unipol, Allianz will also break away from Ania. It will do so as of next year. The decision was announced in a letter of termination that will take effect as of 1 January 2026. This was confirmed by managing director Maurizio Devescovi at a meeting with the trade unions.

"The company responded with a no comment to the request for reasons, specifying that this choice does not concern trade union relations," the unions wrote in a note, requesting a further meeting with top management. "We wish to express our concern about a choice that could have significant repercussions on the framework of contractual dialogue in the Italian insurance sector," the unions added. "We believe that the presence of a leading player such as Allianz within the Association is an added value for the entire system, as it contributes to a more complete representation and a broader and more representative comparison. For this reason, we trust in a rethink on the part of Allianz, so that we can continue to work together within the association context for the common good of the sector, its workers and customers.

The company, on the other hand, had already shown a certain disaffection towards the association in recent months, as Unipol had already pointed out when it chose to manage relations with its workers outside the Ania perimeter several years ago. So much so that in a recent interview with Il Piccolo of Trieste the association's president, Giovanni Liverani, had in some ways tried to extend a helping hand by reiterating that one of the key objectives of his mandate 'is to make the association strong and, to be so, it must be cohesive and representative to the utmost', adding that the association is working 'to ensure that a dialectic, born before my arrival and originating from the evolution of the Italian insurance market in recent years and from the shared request by some for greater incisiveness and efficiency, finds a synthesis, so that there is maximum cohesion among members'.

Now it remains to be seen whether diplomacies will be able to reknit the thread.
