Amazon invests 5 billion in Anthropic

Amazon announced on Monday that Anthropic will invest more than $100 billion over the next 10 years in its cloud technologies, strengthening the partnership as the artificial intelligence start-up rushes to secure the capacity it needs to enhance its models.

Amazon will also invest USD 5 billion in Anthropic now and another USD 20 billion in the future, subject to the achievement of certain business goals. This is in addition to the $8 billion Amazon has already invested in the company.

Anthropic aims to gain an edge in the AI race with a series of model releases focused on programming and design, while Amazon seeks customers for its custom chips designed for artificial intelligence training and inference.
