Key points
Amazon is highlighting its growth trajectory in Italia and emphasising the role of the investments it has made in the country over the last fifteen years. At the Forum in Masseria, Giorgio Busnelli, Country Manager of Amazon Italia, took stock of the group’s presence, linking infrastructure development, employment, technological innovation and support for Italian small and medium-sized enterprises.
Amazon’s investments in Italia and new jobs
«“Over the last fifteen years, Amazon has invested over €25 billion in Italia, including €4 billion in 2024 alone, helping to create 19,000 permanent jobs and building a network of more than 60 sites that now connects the country from north to south,”, said Busnelli.
The investment figures confirm the scale of Amazon’s presence across the country. The network of sites mentioned by Busnelli represents the infrastructure through which the group supports its operations in the country, with a significant impact also in terms of long-term employment.
Technology-driven logistics, artificial intelligence and exports for SMEs
“This development,” he added, “has enabled logistics to evolve into a technology-intensive industry, where data and artificial intelligence do not replace jobs, but generate new skills and new professional roles. At the same time, we have opened up concrete opportunities for around 20,000 Italian SMEs, which, through our services, have access to an export channel worth over one billion euros a year.”
Busnelli then linked the growth of Amazon Italia to the transformation of the logistics sector, which he described as one increasingly driven by data and artificial intelligence. In his speech, the Country Manager also highlighted the company’s relationship with Italian SMEs, for whom the group’s services provide a gateway to foreign markets.
