The event was also an opportunity to formalise the involvement of the Louis Vuitton brand. "We are delighted to support the America's Cup in its new transformation _ said Louis Vuitton CEO Pietro Beccari _ ushering in an even more modern and inclusive era. Together we experienced the first great transformation of the Cup in 1983 with the creation of the Louis Vuitton Cup, and today we are honoured to be present for this new historic edition, the first to be held in Italy". The event was attended by the Minister for Sport and Youths, Andrea Abodi; the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi and the President of Sport and Health, Marco Mezzaroma. While the President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, sent a message of commitment to 'work in close synergy with all the institutions involved'.
"I think that the America's Cup in Naples will be something unique, as unique in the world is the city of Naples _ said Max Sirena, CEO of Luna Rossa _ We have already successfully raced in Naples between 2012 and 2013. I think it will be something unique in terms of the public, because the Neapolitans are unique, just look at what happened when Napoli won the Scudetto last spring".
'Parte this final journey towards the America's Cup in Naples, the teams are presented and we have people coming from all over the world, it is a great international adventure that sees our city at the centre _ added Mayor Manfredi _ It is a unique opportunity for growth, for business opportunities, so it is truly a great challenge, and for us it is an extremely important occasion'.
"The America's Cup in Naples is an opportunity for work, for development, for meetings, so I am sure that this will be a magnificent edition of the America's Cup," added Marco Mezzaroma, president of Sport e Salute, which is the implementing body _ The event will revolve around three points: Mediterranean, Italy and Naples. Obviously the America's Cup will remain in the Mediterranean,' added Mezzaroma, 'which is confirmed as a physical and geopolitical location of utmost importance in the international context. So Naples, where about a month ago with the mayor and the minister we took the two trophies to a school in Ponticelli. Naples is an extraordinary city, a city of a thousand faces and a city of a thousand possibilities, and so bringing the America's Cup to Naples also means contributing to a regeneration, which we have seen in Bagnoli, which is certainly urban because that area in the city centre, where 230 hectares will become the garden of Naples'.
