America’s Cup: Teams entered for the pre-race in September arrive in Nisida
Following the first pre-regatta, which took place in Cagliari, the next one will be held in the Gulf of Naples between 24 and 27 September
The countdown has begun for the America’s Cup preliminary races, which will take place in Naples between 24 and 27 September. By 30 August, all the teams entered in the regatta will be in Nisida, ready to stretch their legs and hoist their sails. The Nisida naval base in Naples will, in fact, host the hangars and jetties for the AC40 boats during the preliminary regatta: this temporary logistics base is supporting the event whilst the permanent venue at Bagnoli is being completed for the 2027 competition.
There will be six teams from six different countries, with nine boats competing. The only team missing will be the Australian crew, who have opted for Naples instead. Once these teams arrive in the Gulf of Naples, they will remain there until 2027, when the most important sailing race – one that is eagerly awaited – will take place. In other words, the major event, eagerly anticipated by fans, will get underway next month. Above all, this is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy.
Meanwhile, work is continuing in Bagnoli, particularly the work by the sea. Here too, the hangars have now been set up and handed over to the sailing teams. The base in the water, intended for the prize-giving ceremonies, has also been set up.
