Day two was dominated by Emirates Team New Zealand in Barcelona waters. The Kiwis won again against Ineos Britannia to take a three-nil lead. Four victories were needed to reach a result that now seems ever closer. Peter Burling and Nathan Outteridge controlled opponents Sir Ben Ainslie and Dylan Fletcher with some ease, taking a penalty in their favour at the start that determined the outcome and forced the British to chase and relentlessly lose ground at each side of the course.

"We thought we were manoeuvring correctly to give the Kiwis water," said Ben Ainslie, "but the Umpires didn't see things the same way. I think the foils were really close and we barely touched. We'll keep pushing, we're not racing to the best of our ability and as we know the Kiwis take advantage of that." The Kiwis, as on the first day, seemed much faster in all conditions and are still proving to be the best in both boat design and handling. Monday will see the regatta that was not sailed due to the lack of wind. "The fourth race will be very important," said Outteridge, "winning it will mean we will have passed the halfway mark in a strong position.
