Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji told Al Jazeera that Beirut has received warnings from Arab and international parties that Israel is preparing to launch a large-scale operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Rajji says that the Lebanese government is engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent such an operation and ensure that its personnel and facilities are not targeted.
The Lebanese foreign minister says his government is still trying to negotiate with Hezbollah, hoping to convince the terrorist group to voluntarily hand over its weapons, claiming they have proved ineffective 'in supporting Gaza and defending the country' over the past two years.
Meanwhile, the US reportedly asked Israel this week to pay for the removal of rubble from the Gaza Strip and to take responsibility for the massive reconstruction operation. According to Ynet, which quotes a senior Israeli official, Israel has reportedly agreed to the request.
In light of the Arab and international refusal to fund the evacuation of the rubble, it is expected that Israel will be required to clear the entire Gaza Strip, and the total cost of the entire operation, which will last for years, is estimated at over a billion dollars.
