The Minister for Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, signed the decree appointing Professor Andrea Lenzi as president of the National Research Council Research. 'All my confidence goes to Professor Andrea Lenzi for an appointment of the highest prestige. I am certain that he will be able to hold it with competence and strategic vision, contributing to strengthening the mission of the CNR, which is increasingly at the service of research, innovation and the development of the country. My heartfelt thanks go to Maria Chiara Carrozza for her work and commitment during her term of office," said Bernini.

Who is Lenzi

Andrea Lenzi, an internationally renowned researcher and clinician, is Professor Emeritus of Endocrinology at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and author of around 1,000 peer-reviewed scientific publications. He is currently chairman of the National Committee for Biosafety, Biotechnology and Life Sciences of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, of the Intercollegium of Life Science, of the Sapienza School of Advanced Studies and of the multidisciplinary think tank Health City Institute. He is also director of the UNESCO Chair in Urban Health and spokesperson for the Network of Italian UNESCO Chairs (Recui). He is a member of the National Committee for the Evaluation of Research and of the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. In the past he chaired the National University Council and the National Committee of Research Supervisors.
