Andrea Orcel Banker of the Year

After record accounts and an unprecedented jump in the stock market, new accolades arrive for Italian banker Andrea Orcel. Euromoney awarded Orcel, CEO of UniCredit, as 'Banker of the Year' in recognition of his outstanding leadership and the extraordinary results achieved by UniCredit in 2023, thanks to the 'UniCredit Unlocked' industrial transformation plan.

The prestigious award was presented to Andrea Orcel at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence ceremony in London on 18 July. In addition to recognising the bank's outstanding leadership and transformation, Euromoney awarded UniCredit the prestigious prize for Best Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Bank in Western Europe, recognising the quality of service and relationships with its 2 million SME and 15 million retail customers in the 13 countries where it operates. In addition, Euromoney recognised UniCredit as Best Bank in Italy, where it was also awarded Best Bank on the ESG and SME fronts.

UniCredit was also recognised as the Best Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where it received the additional accolade of Best for Diversity and Inclusion. In total, UniCredit received 18 awards in recognition of its excellent work across Europe. These awards recognise UniCredit as Best Bank for Wealth Management and Best Bank for Transaction Services in CEE, as well as awarding it Best Bank for ESG in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Romania, and Best Bank for Corporate in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. Furthermore, in the Czech Republic, the bank was awarded Best Bank for SMEs.
