The two convictions (but reduced by a few months) and 14 acquittals in the case of the railroad disaster of 12 July 2016, on the single-track Andria-Corato section operated by Ferrotramviaria, in which 23 people died and 51 were injured, were confirmed. The Bari Court of Appeal reduced by three months to six years and three months the sentence against Andria stationmaster Vito Piccarreta, and to six years and nine months (from seven years) that against Nicola Lorizzo, the train conductor of the convoy that left Andria and headed to Corato. Among the acquittals confirmed was also that of the Ferrotramviaria company.
