Anger and street protests in Italia. The videos
From Turin to Milan to Bologna, it was a Saturday of protests against the high cost of living, with thousands of people – mostly young people – taking to the streets. There were numerous incidents of violence and vandalism.
Protests against the high cost of living are setting the streets alight. Clashes have broken out from Paris to Tirana, whilst in Milan, Piazza Duomo was held hostage by around a hundred violent protesters who attacked the police with firecrackers. Dozens have been injured and 50 people have been arrested, half of whom are minors. Tensions flared outside Bologna station, whilst in Turin a bookshop was also vandalised. Prime Minister Meloni condemned the violence but also ‘the reticence that becomes a justification: the opposition must not be ambiguous’.
