Anie in Oman, in search of the construction sites of the future between metro and railways
A few weeks after Giorgia Meloni's visit to Mascate, Anie Confindustria with Ice and the Embassy of Italia lead an entrepreneurial mission to the Sultanate
Key points
A few weeks after Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's visit to Oman, Anie Confindustria - together with the Ice Agency and with the support of the Italian Embassy - promoted a business mission dedicated to rail and electrified transport: a reconnaissance in the field to hook up with the Sultanate's major infrastructure projects and position Italian skills and technologies where the maps of mobility in the Gulf are being redrawn.
Oman in transformation
The framework is that of a country that is trying to transform itself from 'oil and tradition' into 'logistics and innovation'. Oman is seen as a strategic interlocutor for Italia in the region, on the strength of political stability, a favourable geographic position and a trajectory of reforms oriented towards production diversification, infrastructure modernisation and attracting foreign investment.
The compass is Vision 2040, the national plan to reduce dependence on hydrocarbons and push for sustainable infrastructure, technologies, renewables and advanced mobility: exactly the terrain on which Italian electrical and electronics companies can play a high-profile game.
The delegation included, among others, CML, Elcon Megarad, F.I.S.A., Fersalento, G-TEC Europe, Impresa Pizzarotti, Progress Rail Signaling, Webuild. Also present was Italferr (FS Group), already active in Oman since 2013 and involved - Anie recalls - in preliminary design activities related to the national railway network.
Two landmark works: Hafeet Rail and Mascate's first metro
The operational focus is on two projects that will 'make school' in the coming years.
