Antenna deals with Warner Bros Discovery for Italian CNN
For the Greek group, which acquired La Repubblica, negotiations with Dazn to start with a news service during the World Cup are more advanced
An all news channel, with the CNN brand for Italia. This is, according to the Sole 24 Ore, the topic of the discussions between Antenna - the Greek group that is the new owner of Repubblica and the other Gedi assets, excluding those that are expected to enter into the Sae of Alberto Leonardis - and Warner Bros Discovery.
It is not certain that it will come to draughts, but the discussions would be quite tight and within a strategy of the new Gedi that looks at television. And it does so starting with information, a field considered strategic by the Greek owner of the Antenna Group, controlled by the Kyriakou family's K Group, which after the acquisition of the Italia publishing group's assets is working on extending its offer on the video and streaming side as well.
A strategy that appears articulated at the moment. As also reported yesterday by the Prima Comunicazione online site, Antenna would be in negotiations with Dazn. And, in addition to this, in its sights there is a landing on digital terrestrial for which the Greek group would be working on various fronts.
As for Dazn, the hypothesis is that of an integrated information proposal within the sports platform. The idea under consideration is a daily news bulletin packaged by Antenna, with direct editorial responsibility of the Greek group and a language consistent with the digital consumption model of the platform led in Italia by Stefano Azzi. A product designed to extend the time users spend on the app and intercept a young audience accustomed to consuming content between streaming, social and video clips.
The time objective, as reconstructed by the Sole 24 Ore, would be that of starting to coincide with the Football World Cup kicking off in June in the United States, Canada and Mexico. A window considered strategic for the traffic on the platform, which after the Serie A will rekindle the editorial offer precisely around the Fifa competition.
