Anthropic is in talks to acquire Decart AI for six billion dollars
If completed, the deal would represent Anthropic’s largest known acquisition to date, ahead of its anticipated initial public offering (IPO)
Anthropic is in talks to acquire the artificial intelligence start-up Decart AI for around $6 billion. Bloomberg reports this, citing people familiar with the matter, whilst official representatives from Anthropic and Decart declined to comment.
Decart develops what are known as “world models” (world models), designed to simulate physical reality, as well as software capable of reducing AI training costs by optimising the operational efficiency of chips.
This latest technology could enable Anthropic’s existing infrastructure – as Bloomberg explains – to handle greater demand, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Anthropic, which rarely makes major acquisitions, has invested heavily in computing power to develop new products and serve its customers. The deal – explains the financial news agency – has not yet been finalised and the negotiations could fall through, according to some of the sources, who asked to remain anonymous as the talks are confidential.
If completed, the deal would represent the largest known acquisition of Anthropic, ahead of an initial public offering (IPO) that is eagerly anticipated.
