Anthropic steps up the pace, set to list on Wall Street in mid-November
This has been revealed by Bloomberg, which reports that the roadshow could be launched in the first week of the month
Whilst OpenAI is slowing down its plans for a Wall Street listing, its best-known rival, Anthropic, is stepping up the pace. According to Bloomberg, the Amodei-founded company could go public as early as mid-November. The company behind Claude is reportedly planning to launch its investor roadshow from the week of 9 November, with the aim of commencing trading before Thanksgiving, which falls on 26 November this year. Sources say the dates could change, but that the Wall Street debut will take place by the end of the year in any case.
This is also because the project has already been postponed. Anthropic was, in fact, ready to publicly file its listing application after the summer, but the competitive landscape has become more challenging. And the decision has been postponed.
In recent months, OpenAI has, in fact, regained momentum in terms of sales. Furthermore, both companies are at the centre of a growing debate on the security of artificial intelligence, fuelled by a series of cyber-attacks carried out by rogue agents. These incidents have raised doubts about the impact they might have on the companies’ stock market debut.
Anthropic’s chief executive, Dario Amodei, is himself at the forefront of those arguing that the pace at which new models are being developed needs to be slowed down.
Nevertheless, potential investors do not seem to be put off. Some sources suggest that a valuation of between 1,800 and 2,000 billion dollars is considered appropriate. The company aims to match or exceed the scale of SpaceX’s IPO.
