Apple prepares Tim Cook's succession. Ternus in pole
According to the Financial Times, John Ternus, senior vice-president, could be the next ceo
Apple is stepping up its succession planning efforts ahead of Tim Cook's resignation as CEO of the tech giant as early as next year, reports the Financial Times.
John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering, is widely regarded as Cook's most likely successor, reports the FT, citing several sources familiar with the matter.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
The financial newspaper quoted sources familiar with internal discussions at the iPhone manufacturer as saying that the board of directors and senior executives had recently intensified preparations for the handover to Cook after more than 14 years.
Apple is unlikely to appoint a new CEO before the next earnings report at the end of January, which covers the critical holiday period, the FT said.
