In April 2025, the number of employed persons, at 24 million 200 thousand, was stable compared to the previous month. The stability of the employed is associated with the decline in the unemployed and the growth in the inactive. On a monthly basis, the unemployment rate dropped to 5.9% (-0.1 points) and the youth unemployment rate to 19.2% (-1.2 points). The inactivity rate rose to 33.2%. The employment rate is stable at 62.7%. This was announced by Istat when it released the provisional data on the employed and unemployed.
