Arera, top management renewed: Dell'Acqua new president
The Council of Ministers' decision on the authority regulating electricity, gas, water and waste services
The new head of Arera, the Authority that deals with the regulation of electricity, gas, water services and waste, and which had been under extension since 10 August, has been chosen. The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, has decided to start the procedure for the appointment of Nicola Dell'Acqua as president and of the board of which Alessandro Bratti, Livio De Santoli, Lorena De Marco and Francesca Salvemini will also be members. Dell'Acqua, appointed by the Meloni government in 2023 as national extraordinary commissioner for combating water shortages, will replace Stefano Besseghini.
Also nominated by the majority wereLorena De Marco (executive scientific technical advisor of the College of Authority in Arera on secondment from the Single Buyer) and Francesca Salvemini, head of the technical secretariat of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security. On the other hand, the opposition has nominated Bratti, a former PD parliamentarian who was director general of Ispra (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) and lastly secretary general of the Po River District Authority, and De Santoli, who is M5s shareholder and pro-rector for sustainability at La Sapienza University, president of the degree course in Energy Engineering and president of Coordinamento Free, which brings together 25 associations active in the renewable energy sources and energy efficiency sectors. The first congratulations to the president and the college came from Deputy Minister for the Environment and Energy Security Vannia Gava.
