Carla Zambelli, the Brazilian MP of Italian origin wanted by Interpol for a ten-year prison sentence in Brazil, was arrested in Rome.
This was confirmed by Brazil's Ministry of Justice.
Zambelli, a member of the party of former president Jair Bolsonaro, has Italian citizenship and was convicted in Brazil for hacking the computer system of the National Council of Justice.
The MEP, who had left the South American country after her conviction on 14 May, said she landed in the Italian capital on a flight from Miami.
Before Zambelli's arrest, Italian MP Angelo Bonelli had written on his social media that he had provided Zambelli's address to the local police.
