Milan's Central Station focuses on 'Made in Italy' merchandising for tourists and others

Design also arrives in the Galleria dei Mosaici of Milano Centrale station (platform level) with the new and first art&design24 Concept Store signed by Gruppo 24 ORE, which, thanks to the agreement with Grandi Stazioni Retail, from Friday 11 April 2025 opened its doors not only to travellers from all over the world passing through the Milanese station but also to all lovers of Italian design and quality publishing.

The protagonist of this new entrepreneurial reality that enhances Made in Italy in such an iconic location as Milan's Central Station is 24 ORE Cultura, a company of the 24 ORE Group that began its activity with the publication of catalogues and illustrated volumes on art, photography, architecture, design and fashion, later becoming a leading player in the cultural sector as a publisher of illustrated books and among the major producers and organisers of exhibitions in Italy and abroad. For more than twenty years, 24 ORE Cultura has managed bookstores located inside major art exhibitions throughout Italy; first and foremost, it launched and has managed for ten years the Design Store at MUDEC, the Museo delle Culture in Milan, a true place of excellence for the search for new expressions of craftsmanship, both Italian and from all over the world.

Since 2021, 24 ORE Cultura has launched the new retail brand art&design24, inspired by the themes of art, design, architecture and fashion and protagonist within the museum bookstores it manages. Today, this brand is realised in the first concept store located outside the classic museum environment and managed by a staff with many years of experience.

Located on the top floor of the station, in the well-known 'Galleria dei Mosaici', art&design24 covers an unprecedented range of goods for the station, displaying a careful selection of Italian and international design objects and, next to them, the publishing products of the 24 ORE Group, from 'Il Sole 24 ORE' branded books to those signed '24ORECultura'.

Numerous product categories were on display: from paper products to home accessories, from personal items to children's toys, all strictly 'designer'.

"art&design24 will offer not only editorial products, but also design objects," explains Chiara Savino, Head of Publishing 24 ORE Cultura - 24 ORE Group, who continues: "Through this new and special concept store we will replicate the successful model of the Design Store at MUDEC, conceived and managed by 24 ORE Cultura for ten years now, and which today represents an example of excellence in the national museum scene."

The concept

The presence of domestic tourists and tourists from all over the world prompted the outline of a concept hinging on the important presence of Italian artistic artefacts.

The design, the quality of the materials, the manufacture of the product and the packaging are elements that distinguish Made in Italy, and find their fullest expression in the shop.

Numerous brands are on display, including Alessi, Qeeboo, Seletti, Driade, Fontana Arte, Bitossi, Fabriano, and many others, which will become for travellers a unique gift for a loved one or simply a special souvenir to take home.

The uniqueness and beauty of the Made in Italy product range is juxtaposed with objects from abroad, aimed at reinforcing aesthetic lines and trends, chosen through a very careful and high-profile scouting activity.

Visitors are greeted in the store by the large 'Giraffe in love' chandelier lamp produced by Qeeboo, a famous Milanese brand, an expression of the 'Narrative Design' current. Its presence, together with that of the numerous design objects, animates a neutral space, furnished with simple metal shelving: the idea is to enhance the colours, textures and shapes of the objects, the true protagonists of the store.

A rich bookcase, consisting of art, design, fashion and precious coffee table books, alternating with stationery products such as notebooks, notebooks, pens, characterise the reading corner, framed by Piero Fornasetti's vintage 'Teatro' wallpaper, designed in the 1950s: a tribute to the city, to the typical 'Milanese drawing room' and to La Scala Theatre.

Completing the relaxation corner are the comfortable "Proust" chairs by Alessandro Mendini, in its outdoor version produced by Magis, and "Fiocco" by Nika Zupanc of Qeeboo. A unique and special set-up that also offers an immersive experience of the beautiful and the original, from entering the shop to leaving.

The art&design24 Concept Store is therefore open to the public from Friday 11 April, every day with the following opening hours: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
