Artificial intelligence to support innovative teaching

It has already made its way into schools, although there is still a long way to go to understand its potential in education. This is the context for the event 'Artificial Intelligence, a tool for a new didactics', scheduled for 2 October, in Piazza Città di Lombardia, Milan, starting at 10 am.

It is an opportunity to encourage refresher courses for teachers in vocational training schools and the Its Academy, to understand how to make AI a tool for deepening skills, by comparing it with those who already use artificial intelligence on a daily basis in realities even different from the Italian one.

Among the speakers were Alberto Luigi Sangiovanni Vincentelli, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California Berkeley; Luca Prasso, senior technical artist at Google; Gayatri Kini, expert in inclusive education and job placement for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Lorenzo Maternini, CEO of Perspective AI and member of the AI Commission for publishing of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

"Over the past few months, we have set out on an ambitious path in Lombardy: the controlled and conscious introduction of artificial intelligence in our vocational schools and training centres,' explains the regional councillor for Education, Training and Labour, Simona Tironi, who opens the event together with the president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana. 'That is why we set up a board of experts a year ago to draw up an ethical approach document on artificial intelligence and published free training modules that have been downloaded by more than 6,000 teachers. We want Lombardy's students not to remain spectators of technological change, but to be conscious protagonists of it'.
