ArtVerona 2025 under the banner of multidisciplinarity
The 20th edition led by Laura Lamonea gave space for experimentation and forged links with new exhibition spaces
by Francesca Guerisoli
There were 143 exhibitors at the 20th edition of ArtVerona, which ended on Sunday. For the three-year period 2025-2028, the new director Laura Lamonea is launching a phase oriented towards experimentation, hybridisation and innovative projects. A curator with long experience in the production of festivals and institutional exhibitions, Lamonea has identified 'dialogue' as the core of her strategy, both within the fair and in projects spread throughout the city.
The Galleries
New products at the fair
Lamonea's objective: to overcome the distinction between modern and contemporary in favour of hybridisation and contamination, focusing on a fair that is a commercial platform but also a cultural workshop. Alongside the Main Section, new formats have been introduced: Effetto Sauna, Pittura ORA, Video? Did you say video? and Steps, for galleries with less than eight years of activity. In Effetto Sauna, the galleries will place a well-known artist alongside one that has never been represented: for example, Mimmo Scognamiglio will bring the small-format portraits of Sabrina Rosenheim (1998; from €500) and the works of Yuxiang Wang (at the fair from €1,600 to €7,500).
Pittura ORA, curated by Leonardo Regano, explores the vitality of contemporary painting. Among the invited artists are Giovanni Bongiovanni (Augsburg, 2001; €500 to €4,000) and Antoine Felix Bush (Zurich, 1999), who are exhibiting in the stand shared by galleries 1/9unosunove and Heinzer Reszler.
In the section Video? Did you say video? stands out the animation by Agnese Galiotto, "Describing something is like using it" (2 ed., €2,500 and €600 drawings 6,000; Artericambi), inspired by the anatomical ex-votos of San Casciano dei Bagni. The artist transforms the archaeological discovery into a journey through thermal waters, with intense images, such as the statuette of a little girl with an open belly.
