(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor ) - Asml retreated on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange after the Dutch government revoked its licence to ship its NXT:2050i and NXT:2100i lithography systems to China. The chip-making machine group said the measure impacts a small number of customers in the Asian country and does not expect the licence revocation, as well as US export restrictions, to have a material impact on its financial outlook.
During recent meetings with government representatives in Washington, Asml obtained clarifications on the purpose and impact of the new restrictions on exports of certain types of machinery to China introduced in mid-October.According to Equita analysts, however, the news is negative for the Dutch group as the Chinese market accounts for more than 40% of third quarter revenues and around 20% of the order book, while the new restrictions, however limited, should still suggest that Beijing should speed up its independence on this type of technology.
