Assolegno, Servadio appointed chairman. Sustainability as a driver of growth
Among the objectives of the mandate is to promote the role of structural timber in the sustainable transition
The competitiveness of Italian businesses, the strengthening of the sector and the promotion of the role of structural timber in the sustainable transition, by promoting a vision of the supply chain not only as an expression of a renewable material, but as a strategic industrial sector based on expertise, innovation and regulatory standards.
These are the objectives of Daniele Servadio, the new president of Assolegno – the FederlegnoArredo association representing companies in the primary wood processing and timber construction sectors – for the four-year period 2026–2030.
Sustainability and safety
“Sustainability, decarbonisation and regional safety are now key market drivers at both European and national level,” says Servadio. “In this context, timber can fully demonstrate its value, thanks to a supply chain that combines expertise, innovation and design capability. Building with timber requires specialist skills, rigorous design and high quality standards. Our challenge is to consolidate the role of structural timber as a strategic component of contemporary construction, by harnessing the wealth of knowledge held by companies and supporting the sector’s development.”
Among the priorities of the mandate is also the enhancement of the national forest heritage, by promoting short supply chains and primary processing through synergies with forestry companies and local sawmills, with positive knock-on effects for the entire timber and furniture supply chain. Great attention is also being paid to strengthening human capital and the skills needed to support the sector’s development, by facilitating ever-closer dialogue at a local level with the world of education and training.
The new Executive Board
Over the next four years, the president will be supported by Assolegno’s new Executive Committee, comprising the following members: Cristian Cozzi (Director responsible for the Housing Group), Marino De Santa (Director responsible for the Builders’ Group), Adriano Domini (Director of the Primary Processing Group), Claudio Giust (Director for the Housing Group), Luigi Iavarone (Director for the Primary Processing Group), Onofrio Mattina (Director for the Builders’ Group), Simone Claudio Panichi (Director responsible for the Primary Processing Group), Annalisa Rainoldi (Director of the Primary Processing Group).
