Aston Martin will participate with two Valkyrie AMR-LMH hypercars in all 2025 World Endurance Championship races, subject to acceptance of its application. This is on the basis of the amended regulations of the organisers of the Le Mans event, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest l'Aco, and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, the Fia, which stipulate that each participating manufacturer must enter at least two cars in the Hypercar class from 2025;
Aston Martin adheres to new regulations
The new rule was announced this morning during the official press conference ahead of this year's Le Mans 24 Hours. Aston Martin and its partner Heart of Racing take note of this change in regulations, intending to work to improve the sporting environment for the benefit of all participants. Aston Martin will continue to work closely with both organisations for the duration of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH programme.
The British road-derived hypercar
.The Valkyrie AMR-LMH, with a carbon-fibre chassis optimised for racing, will use a modified version of the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine built by Cosworth and produced for the road-going Valkyrie, which in the standard version reaches 11,000 rpm and develops over 1,000 hp. The engine has also been upgraded to meet the standards of the Hypercar class and guarantee the demands of long-distance competition.
The trial is at an advanced stage
.The development of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH is already well underway, following track testing of the integral systems at Aston Martin's Silverstone test facility and the Portimao circuit in Portugal. Aston Martin and Heart of Racing also have an IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar programme for the Valkyrie AMR-LMH in the GTP class in US endurance racing. The programme will be run from Heart of Racing's headquarters in Phoenix, North America.
More than 240 Aston drivers have driven at Le Mans
.Aston Martin's entry into the Hypercar class will ensure the British brand's presence in all endurance racing. In fact, from 2025, Aston Martin will be the only manufacturer to compete in all sports car and GT races from Hypercar to GT4 and the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. It is also worth noting that more than 240 drivers have driven an Aston Martin at Le Mans over the past 95 years, in no less than 27 chassis and engine configurations;
